Car Insurance Nissan (Car Insurance). How to put a lien on a car after the title is transferred? How to put a lien on a car after the title is transferred? My car was sold to a friend, or what i thought was a friend by verbal commitment that he would pay installments. No payments have been made with no intention of any coming. Due to my lack of judgment I've already transferred the title into his name. Is there any way I could put a lien on this if I get some sort of written proof that he owes me for the car. Oh my! This was an expensive lesson wasn't it? Well, you just gave that person a car. Nope. You have no legal standing. All you had to do was write your name down as lien holder and get a bill of sale saying you would repo the car if not paid as agreed. If you had done that, you could take the car. Hello I fitted an after market exhaust to my car and it was a little bigger that then old one, hense it now rattles against the heat shield a bit when it first starts up and when its going down hill in gear. It has also punched a little hole in the heat shield, apart from the noise everything else is fine but will this cause it to fail it MOT?. The whole exhaust is new and nothing structurally wrong with it so could they fail it just because of the rattle? thanks for any responses car insurance. Auto parts : Cut Off Wheel Scion 1999. Nissan . How to Troubleshoot a 1984 Evinrude Outboard EngineEvinrude Outboard Engines are the work-horses of the water. These hardy engines can put up with a lot of wear and tear and keep going. However, eventually the wear and tear catches up and before having a mechanic diagnose the problem for you, run through a few basic troubleshooting steps on your own. This could save you a few dollars in the long run. Fortunately, the problems are fairly simple to troubleshoot, whether they be related to the fuel assembly or a corroded spark plug. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Compression test gauge Step by Step : 1 Grip the fuel primer bulb and squeeze it to see if there is any resistance. If the primer bulb is hard, it means that fuel is not getting to the engine and the fuel line assembly may need to be replaced. Have a marine mechanic check this out for you. Check the fuel tank to see if there is sufficient fuel. Fill the tank, even if there is a small amount of fuel in the tank. Inspect all the fuel lines for kinks or leaks. 2 Remove the spark plug and check for excessive dirt or corrosion. Clean the plug with a sandblaster. Replace the spark plug if it is damaged. 3 Use a plastic bottle to pour a mix of fuel and oil directly into the carburetor intake if the engine will not turn over, even after you have primed the fuel bulb. Pull the starter cord at the same time until the engine turns over. 4 Check for any oil splatter inside the plastic motor cowling if the engine is lethargic or stutters. If there is oily residue, it could mean that the rings are failing, requiring a rebuild of the motor or replacement. 5 Inspect all the gaskets or seals, between the fuel pump and power-head for any wear and tear. If you notice any cracks or chipping in the seals, replace them. The seals are usually around 1/8-inch in thickness and they seal the oil and fuel inside the engine. If the gaskets are compromised, they could cause a vacuum leak inside the system and affect engine performance. 6 Inspect the system for fuel leaks. Remove the screw to the pump, with the engine off and grip the fuel primer. Check the small vacuum hole at the back of the pump for any leaks. If leaks are apparent, the diaphragm may need to be replaced. Have a mechanic investigate this further for you. 7 Check the fuel pump cowling for any cracks. If the fuel pump cover is compromised in any way, this could also be the cause of vacuum leaks when the fuel is primed. 8 Ensure that there is enough engine compression. Remove the spark plug and connect the compression gauge to the system. A normal reading is between 60 pounds per square inch (PSI) and 90 PSI. If the reading is less than this, the rings may be worn.
Nissan . How to Troubleshoot a Car TransmissionTransmission problems can be a nightmare for anyone who owns a car. The main function of the transmission is to transmit power from the engine to the drive wheels, through a series of gear sets, making it an essential component of a vehicle. Overlooking early warning signs of transmission problems can result in expensive repairs. Fortunately, problems usually do not go unnoticed, so they can be caught early with simple troubleshooting techniques without having any auto mechanic experience. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Step by Step : 1 Determine if there is delayed or erratic shifting. Check the level of the transmission fluid and fill it to the correct level. Broken vacuum lines can also cause this problem. Bring the car to a repair shop so that they can inspect the vacuum lines to see if they are broken. 2 Listen for unusual sounds such as buzzing or whining. This can be caused by a defective torque converter or low transmission fluid level. Add more transmission fluid to the full mark. Get a certified transmission mechanic to fix the defective torque converter. 3 Determine if the transmission is overheating. There usually is a strong burnt odor if there is a faulty oil pump, low fuel level or the fluid cooler lines are clogged. Unclog and replace the cooler lines if necessary, then add transmission fluid. 4 Correct transmission fluid leaks by replacing the pan gasket or tighten the bolts. Tighten the tube nut for the filler tube. If the leaking persists, you should bring the car to the mechanic to be inspected and fixed. Tips & Warnings Always check the transmission fluid level when the car is still running. Prevent transmission damage by fixing leaks as soon as you notice them. They usually run parallel to the frame and are attached to the control arm at one end and the cross member at the other end (see Figure 16-9). Torsion bar springs require no lubrication. Most are adjustable, meaning that if your vehicle is sitting too high or low, you can make an adjustment by turning an adjusting bolt. *<* Air springs: These are filled with the right amount of compressed air to control the ride and maintain the proper height. A computer monitors the ride height and signals an on-board air compressor to pump more air into the air springs whenever weight is added to the vehicle. When the weight is removed, the computer turns on an exhaust solenoid to let air out of the air springs (see Figure 16-10). Usually, there's nothing to lubricate with air springs. But check with the dealer to find out whether it's okay to apply a rubber conditioner to the air bags to prevent them from wearing out prematurely. Taking care of the stabilizers Stabilizers keep the passenger part of the vehicle from swaying and lurching on sharp curves and turns and when the wheels are traveling over uneven ground (a better solution than the legendary mountain goat that had shorter legs on one side than on the other for traveling along slopes!). There are various kinds of stabilizers, but all you need to know is that you can lubricate the rubber parts yourself. Chapter 16: Lubrication Extends the Life of Your Vehicle Nissan . Chapter 11 provides details about shock absorbers that are worth reviewing before you read this section. Many vehicles are equipped with MacPherson strut suspension instead of conventional shocks. This simplified and improved system takes up less space and Is well worth having. The downside is that because MacPherson struts are surrounded by, and assembled with, the suspension springs, they're always under spring pressure and therefore must be replaced professionally. You may be taking your life in your hands if you tamper with them. (Chapter 11 has information and illustrations of MacPherson and other strut systems.) You can tell whether your vehicle needs new shock absorbers by leaning heavily on a fender or placing your weight on a bumper and then releasing it suddenly, watching to see whether the vehicle returns slowly to its original position. If it continues to bob up and down, you need new shocks. Another way is to stop fairly short. If your car dips up and down a couple of times before coming to rest, you need new shocks. Bad shock absorbers increase tire wear and can cause you to lose control of the steering if you go over bumps and dips at high speeds. If any of these things seems to be happening to you, have your shocks replaced. Although replacing standard shock absorbers isn't hard, the job can be brutal if you have to jack up your vehicle and crawl under it. Unless you can replace them under supervision on the lift at an auto class, I strongly recommend having a professional do it for you. To save money, buy the shocks yourself and pay a professional to install them. The store will know what type of suspension system your vehicle has and what kind of shocks it needs. Within limits, you do have a choice: "Heavyduty" shocks provide a slightly harder ride; other shocks may not do as well with the entire family and two Great Danes in the car, but give a softer ride. Some shocks even provide automatic level control for vehicles that carry loads ranging from very heavy to almost weightless. Suit yourself. Chapter 17 Nissan .
